Back in August, I made my first attempt to do baby pictures of one of my very good friend's son for the 6 month time. It was quite a lovely and enjoyable experience and I'll probably end up doing is senior highschool portraits when he grows up too. ^^

The catch lights in your subject's eyes are really distracting. If at all possible, try to make sure there is only one round light shape, or as close to it as you can get. Two round lights are usually acceptable if they are close and linear. If you can't avoid it, you can't avoid it, but the photoshoop...

Hah, to be honest man that didn't even slip my mind, but now that you mention it hell yea it is distracting. But yea when I took this I had two large soft boxes diagnol from the baby about 4 feet away from him at most and lowered down to his level.

How you doin? Will I see you at Ikkicon by the way?

I'm doing alright. Ikkicon is a no-go due to babysitting issues, alas alas.

Softboxes can be amazing, but they can also be pains. Just remember that the light out of those things falls off faster because of the diffusion.
